The Barnacle Historic State Park Location: In Coconut Grove (Miami) at 3485 Main Highway. Facilities: Interpretive exhibits, picnic tables, restrooms. Activities: Guided tours, wildlife viewing. Special Features: Built in 1891, The Barnacle was the home of Ralph Middleton Munroe, yacht designer, naturalist, photographer, and one of Coconut Grove's most influential pioneers. The house is surrounded by a tropical hardwood forest that is one of the last remnants of the once vast Miami Hammock.
