Barnaul Mélange Combine 

one of the important textile factories in the USSR.

The Barnaul Mélange Combine manufactures cotton fabric for clothing from dyed fiber and yarn. Construction of the factory began in 1932, and production began in 1934 (146,600 m of fabric). The combine consists of shops for dyeing the fiber and yarn and for spinning, weaving, and finishing. The spinning shops are equipped with machines with devices to draw out the yarn at a high rate. The weaving shops have automatic broad weaving looms. Machine plants and shops producing secondary materials provide the combine and other textile enterprises with the parts for the repair of machinery and auxiliary materials. In 1969 the combine produced 61.4 million m of finished fabric. The Barnaul Mélange Combine has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1966).
