In west-central WI, east of Saint Paul, MN; organized as Dallas County Mar 19, 1859; name changed Mar 4, 1869. Name Origin: For Henry D. Barron, state senator and judge of the WI circuit court. Originally for George Dallas (1792-1864), U.S. vice president (1845-49).

Area (sq mi): 890.02 (land 862.84; water 27.18). Pop per sq mi: 53.10.
