Barrymore, Maurice

    0.01 sec.
Barrymore, Maurice (b. Herbert Blythe) (1849–1905) stage actor; born in Fort Agra, India (father of Ethel, John, and Lionel Barrymore). Giving up a possible law career, he began acting in London in 1872; he became an instant success in New York in 1875 and went on to star in a variety of roles over the next 25 years. In 1876 he married Georgiana Drew, actress-daughter of the famous British-American actors, John and Louisa Lane Drew, thus founding what would become known as "The Royal Family of Broadway."
