Battle Ground Lake State Park Location: 21 miles northeast of Vancouver. Facilities: 25 standard campsites, 6 utility campsites, 15 primitive sites, 4 camping shelters, horseman's camp, 4 cabins, pit toilets, bathhouse, 3 kitchen shelters (1 with electricity), picnic sites, boat launch, dock, boat rentals, hiking trails, bridle trails, playground, ballfields, game courts, camp store. Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, naturalist programs (seasonal). Special Features: Park is located in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Battle Ground Lake is of volcanic origin and is considered to be a smaller version of Crater Lake in Oregon. The area was named for a battle that was anticipated, but it never actually occurred.
