Bayhaqi, Abu Al-Fazl Muhammad Ibn Husayn

    0.01 sec.
Bayhaqi, Abu Al-Fazl Muhammad Ibn Husayn

Born 995; died 1077. Iranian historian. An official at the court of the Ghaznavids for about 20 years. Author of the memoirs History of Bayhaqi (or History of the Family of Sabuktakin); a small part, relating to the government of Masud (that is, from 1030 to 1041), is still extant. Bayhaqi’s writings are an important source for the study of Iranian history in the period of the Ghaznavids and Samanids. They throw light on the activity of state agencies, the feudal way of life, and the poverty-stricken condition of the masses.
