Bayonne Cortes
a meeting of the representatives of the upper aristocracy and members of the high royal administration of Spain summoned by order of Napoleon I to the city of Bayonne to receive the constitution he granted them. The Bayonne Cortes met from June 15 to July 8,1808. Displaying total subservience to Napoleon, the cortes accepted Joseph Bonaparte as king of Spain.
