Bebington (bĕb`ĭngtən), town (1991 pop. 62,618), Wirral metropolitan district, W central England. Its frontage on the Mersey River is part of the Port of Liverpool. Bebington, a suburb in the Liverpool metropolitan area, includes Bromborough and Eastham, both of great antiquity, and Port Sunlight, an industrial area with soap, detergent, and edible oil and fat factories. Bebington also manufactures chemicals and margarine. The Church of St. Andrew, on a site occupied since Saxon times, dates from the 14th and 16th cent. There are ancient freestone quarries, now no longer worked.

BEBINGTON: A sports academy is being held at Bebington High school from July 23-27.
Paul Joynson, 21, of Prenton Road East, Tranmere; James Walsh, 16, of Aston Wood, Tranmere; Alexander Bishop, 19, of Dudley Close, Prenton; James Larkman, 18, of Partridge Way, Pensby; Andrew Rutter, 20, of Acreville Road, Bebington; David Aspey, 20, of Bebington Road, Birkenhead; Tristian Berry, 19, of Linwood Road, Tranmere, and Paul Stewart, 21, of Carey Avenue, Bebington, will go on trial on January 5, 2005.
GREAT MEOLS Primary School were the winners of a high five net ball tournament organised by Bebington Sports College, with Higher Bebington Junior School finishing as runners-up.
