Bellary

Bellary (bəlär`ē), city (1991 pop. 245,391), Karnataka state, SE India. It is a district administrative center and a road and rail hub with a domestic airport. Iron and manganese deposits are nearby. Its manufactures include cotton textiles, liquor, and refined sugar.

The brouhaha over the alleged irregularities in Obulapuram iron ore mines owned by Janardhan Reddy and his brothers Karunakar Reddy and Somasekhara Reddy ( popularly called Reddy brothers or Bellary brothers) in Anantapur district bordering Bellary in Karnataka has virtually split the Telugu media into two groups, which are now indulging in mudslinging against each other.
Two IAF Mi-8s' flew over worst hit Bellary district for about four hours and 20 minutes and another took off from Yelahanka air base and dropped 2.
