Belukha
the highest mountain in the Altai, in the Katun’ Range, consisting of two peaks: Zapadnaia Belukha (4,440 m) and Vostochnaia Belukha (4,506 m), which are separated by a valley. Mount Belukha is composed of granite, gneiss, and metamorphic schist. There are numerous glaciers—the Mensu, Katun’, Berel’, Akkem, and others—on its slopes, at the headwaters of the Katun’ River, its tributaries, and the Belaia Berel’ River. These glaciers occupy an overall area of 70 sq km. REFERENCE[Okishev, P. A., Iu. G. Krevskii, and V. A. Loisha.] Belukha. Tomsk, 1968.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
