Philadelphia, studied in Italy and with Benjamin West West, Benjamin, 1738–1820, American historical painter who worked in England. He lived in Charleston, S.C., for many years. Benbridge, Henry (?1743–1812) painter; born in Philadelphia. He worked in Italy and exhibited his Portrait of Pascal Paoli (1769) in London before returning to Philadelphia (1770).
