Bender, George Harrison (1896–1961) U.S. representative/senator; born in Cleveland, Ohio. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., Ohio; 1939–49), he was an outspoken critic of the liberal policies of presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman.
