Berdiaev, Arkadii Vasilevich

    0.01 sec.
Berdiaev, Arkadii Vasil’evich

Born circa 1820; year of death unknown. Russian public figure.

The son of a Kharkov landowner, Berdiaev graduated from the University of Kharkhov in 1843. Beginning in 1844, he worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In May 1845, Berdiaev was arrested on a charge of “composing illegal papers” and exiled to Simbirsk. He was released from police surveillance in 1850. The legal, philosophical, and publicistic articles and notes taken from Berdiaev by the police contained criticism of autocratic justice and Slavophile ideology. The most interesting works by Berdiaev are three versions of plans for a constitutional monarchy.
