Bergson, Abram (1912–  ) economist; born in Baltimore, Md. At the age of 24, he published a widely recognized article which facilitated a new view of welfare economics. He was one of America's leading experts in Soviet economics, a professor at both Columbia University and Harvard, and a consultant to the Rand Corporation.
