a city (until 1966 an urban-type settlement); center of Bershad’ Raion, Vinnitsa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located on the Dokhna River (South Bug River basin). Railroad station. Population, 11,800 (1969). Industry includes sugar and alcohol combines; a dairy; dried milk and metal articles plants; and furniture and clothing factories.
