Bevan, Arthur Dean

Bevan, Arthur Dean (1851–1943) surgeon; born in Chicago. Affiliated most of his career with Rush Medical College in Chicago (M.D. 1883; faculty, 1887–1934), he specialized in stomach surgery. As head of the American Medical Association's committees on medical education (1902–16, 1920–28), he made his most important contributions to medical training.
