Bidstrup, Herluf
Born Sept. 10, 1912, in Berlin. Danish artist and cartoonist. Member of the Communist Party of Denmark. Bidstrup studied in the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen from 1931 to 1935. His series of humorous and satirical drawings on everyday themes and (since 1940) his political cartoons have been published in newspapers (beginning in 1936, in Social-Demokraten; from 1945 on, in the Communist Land og Volk). Serial drawings by Bidstrup have been issued several times in individual albums in Denmark and abroad, including the USSR. Bidstrup has created series of sketches from trips to Czechoslovakia (1948, 1952), the USSR (1952), and other countries.
