Established: 1994.
Location: 15 miles north of New Orleans, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.
Facilities: Visitor center, viewing sites, trails, boat ramp.
Activities: Boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, bicycling, hunting, wildlife watching, educational programs, interpretive tours.
Special Features: The marshes provide spawning and nursery habitat for a number of fresh and saltwater species, including shrimp, crabs, redfish, trout, bass and catfish.
Habitats: 17,094 acres of pine flatwoods, oak rides, and coastal marsh of the shoreline of Lake Pontchatrain.
Access: Daylight hours year round.
Wild life: Turkey, deer, squirrels, red-cockaded woodpecker, bald eagle and osprey.
