Bigeev, Zagir
(Muhammed-Zagir Bigeev). Born 1870 in Rostov-on-Don; died there 1902. Tatar writer. Bigeev studied at a Russian school and later at the madrasah in Kazan. He was a mullah. In the novels Thousands, or the Beauty Khadicha (1887) and Great Sins (1890), Bigéev castigated the vices of bourgeois society and exposed the passion for profit that drives people to commit crimes. Bigeev saw the principal source of evil in the poor organization of education in the madrasah. Bigeev was the author of the book Journey Through Mesopotamia (published in 1908). WORKSPovest’lar.
