Bitter, Karl (Theodore Francis) (1867–1915) sculptor; born in Vienna, Austria. He emigrated to New York City (1889), worked with the architect, Richard Morris, and became known for the bronze doors of Trinity Church, New York City (1891–94). He established a studio in Weehawkin, N.J., (1896), and was sculpture director for several American expositions.
