Black Mesa State Park & Nature Preserve Location: 27 miles northwest of Boise City on County Road 325. Facilities: 34 semi-modern campsites, 30 primitive campsites, group camp, horsemen's camp, comfort station, showers, picnic area, group shelter, boat ramps, playground (é). Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, ice fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, birding, wildlife viewing. Special Features: Park is located on the extreme western edge of Oklahoma's panhandle, surrounding 159-acre Lake Carl Etling. Black Mesa Nature Preserve, 15 miles to the north, includes a 4.2-mile trail that leads to a monument marking the state's highest point (4,973 feet).
