Facilities: 65 standard campsites (30 with electrical hookups), 26 deluxe cabins, 54-room lodge (with restaurant, game room, and swimming pool), picnic areas, picnic shelter, snack bar, hiking trails (20+ miles), swimming beach, bathhouses, boat rentals, ski trails (10+ miles), toboggan run, warming hut, game courts, playgrounds, nature center, scenic vistas, gift shops. Activities: Camping, boating, swimming, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, cross-country skiing, sledding, tennis, nature and recreation programs (year round). Special Features: Several vantage points on the edge of the gorge offer panoramic views of Blackwater River's spectacular waterfalls. The name blackwater refers to the amber-colored waters, which are a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles.
