Blake, Eugene Carson (1906–85) Protestant clergyman; born in St. Louis, Mo. Educated at Princeton, he held pastorates in New York and California before becoming a senior administrator of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. From 1967–72 he was general secretary of the World Council of Churches, in which role he advanced his dream of a "truly reformed, truly catholic, and truly evangelical" church.
