Blewett, John P. (Paul) (1910– ) physicist; born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He came to the U.S.A. in 1932, then joined General Electric's research laboratories in Schenectady, N.Y. (1937–46). He was a department head at Brookhaven National Laboratories until his retirement (1947–78). He was an innovative designer of particle accelerators and made major contributions to nuclear fusion.
