Bliss, Lizzie Plummer (1864–1931) art collector; born in Boston, Mass. Her wealthy family moved to New York City (1866), and she was educated privately. She began her collection of modern American and French art in 1907. A patron of the Armory Show (1913), she was one of the founders of the Museum of Modern Art (1929), and bequeathed much of her collection to that institution. How to thank TFD for its existence?
