Bloomingdale, Alfred S. (1916–82) corporate executive; born in New York City (grandson of Lyman G. Bloomingdale). He produced plays and movies before founding (1950) a credit card firm which soon merged with Diners' Club. As Diners' Club president (1955–70) and chairman (1964–70), he helped to promote the rapid postwar growth of the credit card industry. He developed Florida and California real estate in his later years.
