Blos, Wilhelm 

Born Oct. 5, 1849, in Wertheim, Baden-Württemberg; died July 6, 1927, in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt. German publicist and historian. Member of the Social Democratic Party from 1872.

In the years 1877–78 and after 1890, Bios was a member of the Social Democratic faction of the Reichstag. From the end of the 1870’s he sided with the opportunistic right wing. In 1893 he published a work on the German Revolution of 1848–49, written under the influence of Marxism, which, at the same time, belittled the significance of the actions of K. Marx and F. Engels and the Union of Communists. During World War I (1914–18), Bios held a social-chauvinistic position. After the November Revolution of 1918 in Germany, he headed the provisional government in Württemberg from 1918 to 1920.
