On southeastern border of TN, south of Knoxville; organized Jul 11, 1795 (prior to statehood) from Knox County. Name Origin: For William Blount (1749-1800), territorial governor of TN (1790-96) and U.S. senator from TN (1796-97).

Area (sq mi): 566.65 (land 558.56; water 8.08). Pop per sq mi: 206.80.
