CAPTION(S): FRUITY FUN A longest peel competition and bobbing for apples are among the many activities at Alnwick Farmers' Market Apple Day.
The week of special activities will climax on Friday, October 30, with a Halloween party, including a variety of creepy games and activities such as bobbing for apples, cookery sessions with the chance to make Halloween-themed cakes and cookies and a fancy dress disco.
Apples were considered sacred at this time, and this was eventually where the tradition of bobbing for apples came from.
