a city in W Burkina-Faso. Pop.: 396 000 (2005 est.)

Bobo-Dioulasso 

a city in Upper Volta. Population, 68,000 (1967). There is a railroad station, a highway junction, and an international airport. Bobo-Dioulasso is the economic center of the country. There is production of vegetable oils, soap, and beer; cotton ginning; rice milling; and sisal processing. Other industry includes match and cigarette factories, a sawmill, and cottage production of rugs. Large deposits of quartzite clays are located nearby.
