Bobrov, Vsevolod Mikhailovich 

Born Dec. 1, 1922, in Morshansk. Soviet athlete (soccer and hockey). Became Honored Master of Sports in 1948 and Honored Trainer of the USSR in 1967. Officer in the Soviet Army. Member of the CPSU since 1953.

Bobrov was several times a champion of the USSR (1945–46, ice hockey; 1946–48, soccer; 1948–49, 1951–52, and 1955–57, ice hockey). His team won the world championship (1954, 1956), European championship (1954–56), and the gold medal at the 1956 Winter Olympic Games (ice hockey). He was named as the best forward in the World Ice-Hockey Championship of 1954. Bobrov is the only Soviet Olympic athlete in sports history to be captain of the national teams in both soccer and hockey. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and medals.
