Boggs, Thomas Hale, Sr. (1914–73) U.S. representative; born in Long Beach, Miss. A graduate of Tulane, he practiced law before going to the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., La.; 1941–43) and served in the Potomac River Naval Command during World War II. He returned to Congress (1947–73) and chaired the Special Committee on Campaign Expenditures in 1951.
