Boland, Patrick Joseph (1880–1942) U.S. representative; born in Scranton, Pa. A carpenter and general contractor with Boland Brothers in Scranton, he served in local offices (1905–19) before going to the U.S. House of Representatives (Dem., Pa.; 1931–42), where he became majority whip.
