Bologoe

 

a city (since 1926) and administrative center of Bologoe Raion, Kalinin Oblast, RSFSR. Located on Lake Bologoe, 164 km northwest of the city of Kalinin. A major junction of railroad lines to Moscow, Leningrad, Velikie Luki, Pskov, and Rybinsk. Population, 31,000 (1967). Bologoe has rail transport, machine-building, railroad-tie treatment, milk production, fish-processing, furniture, and garment-production enterprises. There is a sovkhoztechnicum for veterinary science and poultry raising.
