Bondarenko, Evgenii Vasil’evich
Born Jan. 4 (17), 1905, in Kharkov. Soviet Ukrainian actor. People’s Artist of the USSR (I960). Bondarenko began his stage work in 1924 in the Kharkov Young Workers’ Theater. In 1932 he graduated from the Kharkov Theatrical School. From 1929 on, he was an actor at the T. Shevchenko Theater in Kharkov. On the stage of that theater he created stage interpretations of Svichkogas (Kocherga’s laroslav the Wise), Omel’ko (Karpenko-Karyi’s Martyn Borulia), D’iak (Zarudnyi’s Marina), Makedon Som (Korneichuk’s Above the Dnieper), Shvandia (Trenev’s Liubov’ larovaia), Dikoi (Ostrovskii’s The Thunderstorm), cavalier Ripafratta (Goldoni’s The Lady Innkeeper), Malvolio (Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night), and others. Bondarenko’s acting is distinguished by delicacy, realism, and sincerity. Since 1948 he has done pedagogical work in the Kharkov Theatrical Institute. He plays in movies. He received the State Prize of the USSR (1947) and has been awarded three orders, as well as medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
