Name Origin: For Benjamin Louis Eulalie de Bonneville (1796-1878), French-born officer in the Mexican-American War and explorer of California and the Rocky Mountains region (1831-31); immortalized in theAdventures of Captain Bonneville (1837) by Washington Irving (1783-1859).
