Boot Camp

Also found in: Dictionary/thesaurus, Acronyms, Wikipedia 0.04 sec.

Boot Camp

Software from Apple that enables an Intel x86-based Macintosh to host the Windows XP operating system. Boot Camp is used to divide the hard disk into Windows and Mac partitions, to install the necessary drivers and to create a dual boot environment. Introduced in the spring of 2006, Boot Camp does not provide a virtual machine capability and does not allow the computer to run Windows and Mac OS X at the same time. At startup, the user decides which OS to use. See dual boot and Parallels Desktop.
