boot drive

boot drive
The disk drive that contains the operating system. Most personal computers are configured to look for the OS in the CD-ROM drive first and then the hard disk. In the past, the floppy drive was first on the list. See boot, bootable disk and BIOS.

On a Windows installed computer system with SCSI drive being used as the boot drive and no SCSI adapter BIOS enabled, NTLDR will access NTBOOTDD.
Firefighters had planned to assist at the town's annual bonfire, which was to include a boot drive and other efforts.
To select a different boot drive on the Mac, you hold down the Option key while starting up the computer and then choose from the main hard drive or any others that are connected and bootable.
