Booth, George G. (1864–1949) newspaperman, philanthropist; born in Toronto, Canada. The wealthy publisher of the Detroit News, in the mid-1920s he established the Cranbrook Academy of Art (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), an experimental art educational community, in collaboration with Eliel Saarinen.
