a city (settlement until 1964) and the center of Marneuli Raion, Georgian SSR; located on the Algeti River (Kura River basin). It has a railroad station on the Tbilisi Yerevan line, and there is a branchline from Marneuli to Kazreti. Population, 17,000 (1973). The city has enterprises of the food industry, including a cannery and a creamery; building materials enterprises, including plants producing nonmetallic materials and reinforced-concrete items; and a haberdashery factory.
