bore evacuator [′bȯr i′vak·yə‚wād·ər]
(ordnance)
A device placed on the tube of artillery weapons to force propellant gases to flow outward through the muzzle end of the bore from a cylindrical chamber around the gun tube; the chamber encloses a series of jets around the cannon tube through which the gases flow.
