Borga Diet of 1809

a representative congress of Finnish delegates, called by the Russian government at the city of Borga (Swedish Borgá, Finnish Porvoo) which lasted from Mar. 10 (22) to July 7(19), 1809. It confirmed the autonomous position of Finland within Russia; it established a de facto national Finnish government and thus played a historically progressive role.
