Borger

Borger (bôr`gər), city (1990 pop. 15,675), Hutchinson co., extreme N Tex., in the Panhandle; inc. 1930. After the discovery of oil in 1925, Borger grew as the industrial center of a vast natural-gas and oil field. There are many refineries in the area, as well as light manufacturing, irrigated agriculture, and livestock raising. A monument to Native American flint quarries is in Borger.
