Borin, Konstantin Aleksandrovich 

Born May 21 (June 3), 1908, in the village of Zhestelevo, Gorbatov District, Nizhny Novgorod Province. Initiator of progressive work methods in the harvesting of crops. Hero of Socialist Labor (1949). Member of the CPSU since 1932.

From 1935 to 1950, Borin was the combine operator of the Shteingartov Machine Tractor Station of Krasnodar Krai. In 1948 he and his collective coupled two C-6 combines and threshed 42,300 centners of grain from the area they harvested. In 15 years of work at the Shteingartov Machine Tractor Station, his combine unit fulfilled 89 seasonal quotas and threshed more than 480,000 centners of grain. Borin was the first to apply night combine harvesting, loading of the bunker, and refueling while the engine was in motion. In 1950 he graduated from the Timiriazev Moscow Agricultural Academy, where he was a doctoral candidate of agricultural sciences, and since 1962 he has been an assistant professor of mechanization. Borin was a delegate to the Eighteenth Congress of the ACP (Bolshevik). He was a deputy to the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in its first convocation. In 1951 he was awarded the State Prize of the USSR. He has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, two other orders, and medals.
