Mikhailov, Boris Mikhailovich
Born Mar 21 (Apr. 3), 1906, in the village of Znamenka, present-day Kirensk Raion, Irkutsk Oblast. Soviet organic chemist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968). Graduated from Kazan University in 1929. Student of A. E. Arbuzov. He worked at Kazan and Moscow universities and a number of medical research institutes. Mikhailov has been at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1943 (he has been a laboratory director since 1954). His main works are devoted to the chemistry of organoboron compounds, polycyclic hydrocarbons, the organic compounds of alkali metals, and heterocyclic compounds.
