Boris Mikhailov

Mikhailov, Boris Mikhailovich 

Born Mar 21 (Apr. 3), 1906, in the village of Znamenka, present-day Kirensk Raion, Irkutsk Oblast. Soviet organic chemist; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968). Graduated from Kazan University in 1929. Student of A. E. Arbuzov. He worked at Kazan and Moscow universities and a number of medical research institutes.

Mikhailov has been at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1943 (he has been a laboratory director since 1954). His main works are devoted to the chemistry of organoboron compounds, polycyclic hydrocarbons, the organic compounds of alkali metals, and heterocyclic compounds. He has been awarded two orders and several medals.
