Borovkov, Aleksandr Alekseevich
Born Mar. 6, 1931, in Moscow. Soviet mathematician. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966). Borovkov graduated from Moscow University in 1954 and became a professor at the University of Novosibirsk in 1965. His primary works, which pertain to the theory of probability, give a further development of analytic methods and on that basis prove new limit theorems. In particular, Borovkov first constructed asymptotic expansions for the probabilities of the most important events connected with discontinuous random processes with unbounded decreasing jumps.
