Bosch Gimpera, Pedro 

Born Mar. 22, 1891, in Barcelona. Spanish historian, archaeologist, and ethnographer.

Between 1915 and 1939, Bosch Gimpera directed the archaeological service of Catalonia. He was a professor at the University of Barcelona from 1916 to 1939. During 1937–38 he was minister of justice in the autonomous Catalonian government. He is a progressive public figure, an antifascist. After the establishment of Franco’s regime, he emigrated from Spain; he has lived in Mexico since 1940. His main works are on the ancient history, archaeology, and historical ethnography of Western Europe and the Mediterranean region.
