Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site Location: 7 miles north of Sedalia, east of US 65 in Pettis County. Facilities: Picnic sites, picnic shelter, playground, hiking and mountain biking trails. Activities: Hiking, mountain biking, guided tours. Special Features: Park features the 12,000-square-foot Bothwell Lodge, built between 1897 and 1928 as the country estate of former State Representative and prominent Sedalia lawyer John Homer Bothwell. The 31-room stone lodge was built in four sections on top of three natural caves, using native rock from the estate grounds. Near the lodge are a stone gazebo and a small three-sided shelter.
