1. Georges . 1837--91, French general and minister of war (1886--87). Accused of attempting a coup d'état, he fled to Belgium, where he committed suicide
2. Nadia (Juliette) . 1887--1979, French teacher of musical composition: her pupils included Elliott Carter, Aaron Copland, Darius Milhaud, and Virgil Thomson. She is noted also for her work in reviving the works of Monteverdi
