. Imprisoned in 1800, he escaped (1804) to Portugal, but in 1807 he was reconciled to Napoleon, whom he served in several campaigns. In the Hundred Days he deserted to the Prussians on the eve of Waterloo and joined the Bourbon standard. King Charles X made him minister of war (1829) and marshal (1830).
